Think about L2JServer future

Post by marcose »

Hello everyone, today i think something:

Where is going l2jserver?
The devolpers not are a dedicated devolpers (Theys have job I guess).

So, i think in rework l2jserver by 1 U$D (Just an random number) per month and get access to SVN.

Why this gonna work?
I guess (Please some admin put in this post the user count per month in the SVN) 100 Users minimun per month. So 1U$D for 100 Users.

Why not free?
If you cant pay 1 dollar per month, how you want to get an server? (A nice one :P )

Where are the good part?
So, whit the money per month. L2JServer can pay admins to devolp it full time (Like 8 Hours per day), and fix any bug in a moment.

Why this is better to apply?
I think, Zoey96, MERLIX, Unaffrid (L2JServer devolpers than work for free) dont gonna to live for ever then l2jserver need new devolpers and whit money its more easy to get once.

And an demo version for students (Not fully working, just an java part).

That is just an idea (Crazy One) for L2JServer Devolpers.

Don't worry, he meant Zoey69 :D

Anyway, that idea could actually pass (only a slight chance though), but I'll be one of the many to leave if it happens.
If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.

funny how complains by devs was about spelling their names correctly and not the topic in itself.

Anyway there is a big community that just uses files to play around with and not really have a server. I am not sure that the 1 dollar payment would really help anything. To the devs it would be so little per dev it would not even matter in my opinion. I am not sure how this would help to get l2j back from the dead?

I saw 1Dollar for example.
For students its free (Not fully server version) but whit some java parts.

Ye I understand it was example , then again what price would it be to still "keep" some people that may think l2j will for some reason rise because people start pay for it.

To be honest personally I don't see that dev team would all of the sudden get all their mojo back because people paid few bucks, also I doubt it would be that many. At least until l2j gets their reputation back of beeing very active then it would probably work.

The idea lacks a lot in my opinion.

need new devolpers
Funny, l2j its just a mafia, there are (or better was) lot of ppl interested on work and help on l2j, and l2j "developers" IGNORED him DURING YEARS.

If you want a paid project goto l2p or l2ow.

@Evilus in another topic (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25111) I gave my opinion on a similar matter, but of course you couldn't troll that one or you just missed it :D

@marcose I don't think adding the $ factor will help, it will turn it into a bussiness and will go against the main idea of the project learning and sharing.

@BiggBoss you jelly cause ain't any W1ggWozz :P

@Evilus (again) you are the selfish one that work for a close community, even one line of code shared by any of us helps more the community than any of your latest posts.

@LasTravel maybe you are right, I tried to reach you when I got in to the team and you said you were done working for free, you can ask any of the Adv. Users that works with us, that we try to get their work committed.

Biased opinion is not worth listening to.
you are the selfish one that works for a closed community
As if they hadn't tried to contribute before... A lot more people tried in their time, but many won't be remembered.

BTW, this seems to start turning into yet another l2j-VS-forks argument.

@jurchiks check UnAfraid's commits from User Contributions and you'll see that most of them are from non-Adv. Users, and some of them became Adv. Users after we committed their work, so I think you are wrong about that, anyway I think you wouldn't listen anyone but yourself, if your work doesn't get committed you'd probably assume developers ignore everyone, am I about right?

@Zoey76 Yeah, I'm sure active devs, now care MUCH more about community work from adv.section or not. But you know, on my post, I was talking about old times. :D
