Re: system server
l2j its free you don't need to buy pack or something like that
depends on your hardware and internet connections.
there it was many threads with amount of players/hardware... you can use search and you will find out.

Re: system server
NEVER use wamp or xampp packs for a live server!
You don't even need apache and php for the server, it's for the website only.
Install mysql and java, that's it.

Re: system server
4 GB DRR2800 or better, at least Dual-Core 2.5GHz or more.
Should be enough for 100-150, but there are people here that should know better.

Re: system server
You need to calculate 4GB RAM for each 400 players.
You need calculate 2GB RAM for Geodata full ON.
You need calculate 1.5 ~ 2GB RAM for SO (if you use Windows).
You need calculte at least 1GB RAM for MySQL.
Then, if you want server for 200 players max. with geodata on Windows, you need 6 ~ 8 GB RAM.

Re: system server
ok, then...
1) If you want to use windows server, do not use 2003 R1/R2, use 2008 R1 or 2008 R2
2) More RAM = Better: lesser swap/virtual memory use = Greater performance
Generally with 8 GB or more, swap space is not necessary under windows.
The memory choice may be difficult, check the memory compatibility list from your motherboard datasheet and don't choose memories over 1600 MHz or over your FSB frequency.
If your processor support dual channel, use 2/4/6 ram modules, or 3/6 if your processor support triple channel (i7 9xx)
Don't mix ram modules, buy n identical ram modules.
3) The true l2j bottleneck is the hard disk: so, remember to buy a good hdd and, if you have a dedicated hw or chipset which support Raid (like intel ICH), use it in striping mode or raid5 mode (if you have 3 or more disks).
Don't forget to do regular backups to an external unit
