Linux or Windows for server

Post by Coyote »

Hello!

Which OS has the best performance for l2jserver? Linux or Windows?

If linux, what is the best distribution? Debian, Centos, Ubuntu ? Else Windows, what is the best version?

Thanks...!

linux has better performance than windows (or more like it eats less resources by itself), but linux requires more than just point-and-click knowledge.
In any case, use some Server version.
If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.
Otherwise you will never learn anything if all you do is copy-paste!
Discussion breeds innovation.

I used l2j for a long time on windows and it worked great, few months ago i installed it on linux and i was amazed. LInux has better java support, better memory management, beter everything, but as jurchiks said it's a little harder to use linux if you don't have any experience.
You can use centos, debian or ubuntu.
