Updating personal test server

I was just wondering does the server version require updating ?
I have the server setup for me and my friends to play on about 10 ppl.
But I like to do a datapack update on it with the nightly build. But I wasnt sure if the server version requires to be updated as well. I wouldnt think so, but just in case I was wrong I thought of asking.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Depends on how old it is. Some update require both DP and core(server) update so I'd say if you updated this a few days ago then do update for both core and dp

oh okay. Well the core is about month ago and i just got the dp that was from today. either way what your saying its best if i do the core update as well... umm any tips on how to do that? I already just did the dp update with the old core and no crashes occur or any errors ... all the accounts were still there. If you can tip me a few that would help. and tips that doesnt involving any risk of losing players accounts would be best. Thanks

I managed to fiquire it out after playing with it for an hour. LOLz. So no need for any repliers for this thread. If any one else is trying or wondering how to update their servers and cant figure it out just pm me and i would be more than helpful to walk them through on updating the server version and DP version.
