New protocol.

Post by Notorious »

As of today, the client is running new protocol, 87.
Anybody knows what changed, and if it's safe to just set max and min to 87?

if you set max min 87, a lot of players will be not able to join your sever, due to using l2.exe. Set 83 to 87 and announce that ppl have to update their client using updater.

Well, I know this, but what I need to know, before I do this, is if it's safe to just let protocol 87 pass.

So far there's no exact news in the l2guru, l2official, or l2wh forums about what was changed.

First thing I suggest checking is:
Capes (names/descriptions)
Soul Crystals Icons
Olympiad Jewels Icons
CoV and Prof descriptions

They may all have been fixed, maybe not.

No danger in updating protocol all it does is allow more "versions" of the client to log in.

Not for sure  Its funny. bug with red crystals is old like hell and poor guys can't do anything with that bug, they only put some announce to watch what we buy

So far, everything seems to be working in the server where I play, but some players had reported Critical Errors just 1-2 minutes after login (already playing with the PJ). A temporaly solution has been to activate "Low Detail" in the Options menu, but some players still has reported the critical errors.

It seem to be related with graphics. I will try to get a screen shot of the error and post it if needed.

To determine the client protocol version from the L2 main directory:

Code: Select all

.\system\l2.bin -L2ProtocolVersion
