Hey guys,
Within the last few weeks I had been receiving petitions from my player base about intermittent character immobility. It's very hard to reproduce and I had tried everything I know to isolate, reproduce and fix the problem. I was unsuccessful in reproducing it during peak time of 150 players but I experienced the character immobility issue after server maintenance last night after upgrading to Core 3156 and DP 6247.
The problem seems to be very random and it will strike any player at any given time. The character will become immobilize for anywhere from 10-30 while he/she can still see other players hunting/killing monsters normally. If that player is currently engaged in combat with a monster, he/she will be unable to attack, move or do anything else but the monster(s) can still attack him all the while his/her HP is draining normally. I had thought perhaps it was a latency but it does not seem so. Maybe it was a character skill(s) used accidentally during intense combat but my test character was below lvl 20 with no skill(s) that would immobilize the character. Lost packets, perhaps but network traffic logging does not support that theory either. Maybe it's a geo data issue but it's a theory I am unable to provide any specific details on. I am totally stumped on this issue.
What I had done so far:
1) Checked latency log file for period of lost packet/latency on network segment. (nothing out of the ordinary pop up immediately)
2) Upgrade to latest Core and DP thinking it may be server related. (didn't fix the issue)
3) Backup the SQL database, started with clean core and DP with latest revisions. (still didn't fix the issue)
4) Google and searched the old forum for intermittent player immobility, character immobility, etc but return little to no results matching.
Any ideas? I will not submit it as a bug since I have absolutely no idea where the problem begins.

If you are immobilized try simple solution. Target self and press Escape on keyboard.

Thanks and I take it that you had experienced this phenomenon and what you proposed is the temporary quick fix? Any idea what may be causing this? I will update my site with the proposed temp fix.If you are immobilized try simple solution. Target self and press Escape on keyboard.

Re: Intermittent character immobility??
If its working reason can be some missing ActionFailed.STATIC_PACKET but.. hm.. idk from where if you say that is random thing.
I have similar problem one day on server with some custom npc. Any player who want to talk with him was immobilized. Some ppl write on forum that quick method to 'unstuck' and i found a reason. after adding ActionFailed.STATIC_PACKET all works correct.

Re: Intermittent character immobility??
The reported issues I am getting from my players are quite random. They could be engaged in combat and then suddenly they are immobilized, or they could be running in town and then suddenly are unable to move, or they could be viewing NPC/player shops and then can't move from that location for up to 10-30 seconds. If they wait a little while, they are able to move again.
It's very hard for me to get a consistent reproduction of the immobilization effect because it has happen all over the game world under various conditions (as reported by petitions). This only started happening a few weeks ago but I had not changed any server setting, no hardware upgrade, no software upgrade (beside core and dp on a weekly basis).
Unlike your scenario, where you can pin point it to a custom NPC, mine is random so I am at a lost how to fix this.
