IP Setup Question

Post by Willi2k »

L2J Revision Number: 4418
L2JDP Revision Number: 7665

Greetings!

First of all, I know that you guys don't like answering newbie questions, but I've spent the last 3 hours or so searching on this forum and on the internet about this particular problem.

I came here about a month ago and I wanted to start learning about L2J so I started reading and I managed to mount an Epilogue test server successfully. Now that Freya was released, I wanted to test it.

I followed the guide again and the gameserver and loginserver were okay, but when I try to log in (with a clean and updated Freya client) i get stuck in "You are currently logging in". Now I know my problem lies with my IP configuration so I'll show you my files. The problem is that since the server.properties file changed, I'm not sure about the IP setup.

BTW, my IP (from http://whatsmyip.org) is 201.248.9.87

My server.properties file:

Code: Select all

# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------# Game Server Settings# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------# This is the server configuration file. Here you can set up the connection information for your server.# This was written with the assumption that you are behind a router.# Dumbed Down Definitions...# LAN (LOCAL area network) - typically consists of computers connected to the same router as you.# WAN (WIDE area network) - typically consists of computers OUTSIDE of your router (ie. the internet).# x.x.x.x - Format of an IP address. And that's it I guess. I'm really sorry I know you guys insist on searching but I've searched and I can't seem to find the solution. I'm sure it's just a misplaced IP or something like that, but I've changed and tried everything to no avail. Please remember I'm just starting and I'm eager to learn.

I hope you guys can help me!

you don't need to change the IPs in server/login configs... you only need to modify ipconfig.xml thats all :P

Ok, I returned the server/login config files to the way they were, unchanged. But I'm still getting stuck on "You are currently logging in." :(

Both ports open up when I run startgameserver.bat and startloginserver.bat, double-checked with http://www.whatsmyip.org/ports/

still can't login

You does not need gameserver (and ipconfig.xml) for login process at all. Problem is in editing hosts.

i think what confuses people is once you seutp the wan you can only connect on some comp with local ip not the wan ip. at least thats my guess on the matter. really would love to have someone test my server see if its setup right to accept connections yet plz send a privet message if you can thanks.

also wanted to ask someone if there is link to explain the subnets strings in the ip xml more thanks.

change your mysql password, and it showed in public and can access it.

I recommend just leaving the port open to the outside, 2106, 7777 and 3306

9014 and 9013 in local network.

Just for home server, use a good firewall to protect your server or PC. (Not used in data centers that may not gain access remotely)

3306 is for mysql, shouldn't be open unless you have a site connecting to it from outside.
If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.
Otherwise you will never learn anything if all you do is copy-paste!

If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.
Otherwise you will never learn anything if all you do is copy-paste!
