Any plans for the immediate future related to this?

We will switch to JDK8 once eclipse releases Kepler upgrade atm its only possible via plugin + external ant which most of people here wont like so we are waiting for that.

@Nos - Hmm, Kepler is already available... Eclipse Standard 4.3.2 on main download page is Kepler. Maybe you mixed it up with Luna?

Kepler 4.3.2 is the old version which does not have java 8 support by default but according to this i think Kepler wont be updated i thought they would just release a version that have the java 8 feature patch by default not sure yet :P

Better wait for Luna stable then. I wonder what's the release date for that...
Edit: ah crap, June 25: http://projects.eclipse.org/releases/luna

I'm using Luna since it reached M5 and it's stable.

There is no hurry on switching to JDK8, the experience on JDK7 lead us to use early Eclipse releases that made us waste developing time trying to figure out the issues with the IDE.

When we get an stable release of Eclipse (by the way I don't think they will incldue support on Kepler), we will start using Java 8 features on our source.

That being said, there is a difference between support Java 8 and use Java 8's features.

Supporting Java 8 (or any other version) means that L2J Server will run without major problems on that version, and use the features means that we will include code in a syntax that won't be supported in older versions.

We need to release Java 8 support as soon as possible.

This is the official L2J stand about Java 8 and JDK8.

Windows XP is much out of date and almost noone is support it anymore.
For example new PC components ain't going to have drivers for Windows XP at all so you are forced to go with another operation system.
Windows 7 is doing fine for me.
