L2J Server

Hi guys. I need ask you some questions about server stability.
What do you know about ddos on the game or login server on Linux platform? How I can make powerful defence on the server? Who knows or can tell me something useful about it: past here in this topic or send me a PM.

P.S.: I want open server where number of players are more than 2 thousand.

You cant really protect your server from ddos attacks on the gameserver level. Best solution is to get solution from a company.

Well yeah, however DDOS attacks are now way too common, so there are many companies that offer such protections. I just advise you not to use proxy protection. Too much latency and all players will have the same IP address. I would suggest you to spend at least a few days looking for DDoS protections, and make sure you search for reviews before buying.

What about iptables?

Will slow down the server anyway if DDoS is big.

there are more types of attacks and they can be big or small, if you have 100 mbps and the attack is 1gb ip tables can't protect you this is just an example

I've 20 Gbit in peer zone. So iptables is as variant...
