L2J Server

hello first of all sorry for my newbie queestions that gonna follow in this topic
ok so i am trying to set up my own private server just for fun actually and for educational purposes....
my first question is: i have windows 8 and i downloaded mysql and navicat and stuff installed the database properly i can log from my computer to my server but despite my many many efforts couldnt make my friend on another network to log ...soooo is it gonna work even for fun on windows 8 ? (home not server or anything )

and my next question is..... can someone tell me excactly from ipconfig.xml file where i put my ip's and stuff in order to make someone else from distant network to log properly? ( i need some explanation including the l2.ini file )

and do i really need to change host files or it can be done without ?

If I am correct the external IP was moved to the server config file, so the ipconfig.xml is useless anymore. You have to open the ports in the firewall(or just shut it down), and in the router to allow players to join your server.

You have to option:
1. You have to edit the host file
2. You have to edit the l2.ini file
You have to write your IP in these files.

ok so on host file i put my wan ip which i find on whatsmyip.com or my 192.168.xxx.x address ?
same goes for l2.ini which ip i put in order to send the file to someone in order to log ? i used 127.0.0.1 on ini and i can log properlu but i need to change it in order to send it to someone and log right ? and i need to fix and send to someone both of them or just 1 of em ?

as far as the ipconfig.xml i still have it.....wheni go to servere properties theres a message saying "there is a file named ipconfig.xml where u make the ip changed etc...."

You shouldn't modify l2.ini but modify hosts file.
U better don't use ipconfig.xml server will do it for you automatically. (If you're using high five version)

ok so i leave the file default-ipconfig.xml as it is and then i go for hosts and change it with my wan ip ? ( and in order for someone to log in my server ) i send only the hosts file with open ports on router firewall ? and thats it ? ip configurations no needed on hi5 ?
