[Question] LAN connection issue

L2J Server Version: 4402 - DP Revision: 7656

I have a perfectly good running server and can connect no problem at all with the client on the same PC (i.e. no networks involved!).

When I try to connect using my wireless laptop it's a bit of a problem when trying to access the server. I have adapted the host file on the laptop to point to the IP address of the desktop hosting the game server (just the LAN address 192.168.....) and i can get passed the login server (as I can see the new account created on the desktop). But when I try to connect to the gameserver it does nothing and I can see no errors.

Any advise would be appreciated. I don't think port forwarding will be required as both devices are going into the same BTHUB router. The server.properties for the game server are configured with the 192.168... address for the external host and 127... address for the local host. As is the loginserver.properties file. As mentioned before, I can attach locally on the same box but just can't get server to connect. The client is the updated as btw :)

I'm sure that I'm being a numpty but if you can help that would be great, my son can't wait to pk when I get on :P

cheers

Mark

Anyone? I'm almost at my wit's end with this.

I have Mcafee AV and firewall installed on my desktop that hosts the server. I've opened both the 7777 and 2106 ports to allow incoming traffic to those ports. My laptop gets passed the 2106 port (it's logging in ok) but my L2J server shows as ping 9999 and I can't connect. I've tried disabling the firewall on mcafee but it still doesn't connect.
My game server file looks like this:

# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Game Server Settings
# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# This is the server configuration file. Here you can set up the connection information for your server.
# This was written with the assumption that you are behind a router.
# Dumbed Down Definitions...
# LAN (LOCAL area network) - typically consists of computers connected to the same router as you.
# WAN (WIDE area network) - typically consists of computers OUTSIDE of your router (ie. the internet).
# x.x.x.x - Format of an IP address. Do not include the x'es into settings. Must be real numbers.
# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Networking
# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# This is transmitted to the clients connecting from an external network, so it has to be a public IP or resolvable hostname
# Common settings...
# 127.0.0.1 - If you are playing alone on a test server
# 192.168.x.x - This is if you are on a 192.168.x.x type network (behind a standard consumer router) and want other computers from JUST the internal network to be able to connect
# x.x.x.x - WAN IP obtained from http://www.whatismyip.com/. This is if you want people outside your internal network to be able to connect to your server.
# If this IP is resolvable by the Login Server, just leave *.
# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Default: *
ExternalHostname = 192.168.1.66

# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# This is transmitted to the client from the same network, so it has to be a local IP or resolvable hostname.
# This can be the internal IP such as 127.0.0.1 or the computer's IP such as 192.168.x.x.
# If this IP is resolvable by the Login Server, just leave *.
# ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
# Default: *
InternalHostname = 127.0.0.1

# Where's the Login server this gameserver should connect to
# Default: 127.0.0.1
LoginHost = 127.0.0.1

# TCP port the login server listen to for gameserver connection requests

# Default: 7777
GameserverPort = 7777

Please help, I'm running out of hair to pull out

i think you will have to forward ports 2106 and 7777 to your desktop ip otherwise how will your bthub know where to send the traffic :)

thanks for your reply. Both ports have been forwarded and i've also created a rule within my Mcafee firewall to allow traffic through both ports on my desktop but it still stops at the server selection screen. Really bizarre

have you tried useing 192.168.1.66 as the internalhost ip instead of 127.0.0.1 on the sever computer
