RaidChaosTime?

Can someone please explain how this is supposed to work? I get complaints from players that the tanks can't tank anymore since they can't hold aggro on the boss. What does reconsider mean? I know the meaning of the word, but what exactly does the rb take into account when reconsidering? Does it just drop all the aggro the tank has built up? If so, why?
Does it drop all aggro every 10 seconds?
Then, what's the point of the aggro-skill on the tank?
I just want to know, and this setting came out of nowhere with the Epilogue update.
If I wanted it the way it was before, how do I set it? Zero?
Code: Select all
# Configure the interval at which raid bosses and minions wont reconsider their target# This time is in seconds, 1 minute is 60 seconds.# Default: 10,10,10RaidChaosTime = 10GrandChaosTime = 10MinionChaosTime = 10

RB do not drop aggro just a random player gets enough aggro to became the most Hated char.
10 means RB can not reconsider aggro after he does for 10 seconds.
Tank aggro skill is not for RB-s on official. They are for normal mobs.

So, since aggro isn't working on a raidboss anymore, and since a tank without aggro-skill doesn't build up much hate, not compared to a nuker, a tank is really useless when doing raids now?
Any insight on how to make it the old way?

Raise the Chaos setting. Example if you set it to 3600 than RB will not reconsider aggro for 1h.

But I'd like it to change to a nuker if the nuker has more aggro. If I only set the chaos time to 3600 he won't reconsider at all for an hour, am I right?
Hehehe... well, think what I really want is aggression to work on raids!

This setting wont kill aggresion, just after some time it will give aggro to a random character. If the Tank is good enough than when the RB tries to attack another char and use Aggression the RB will attack the Tank again.
Look in the L2AttackableAI.java how this works. When I add this AI to my server I change the time to 60 sec. My players now experienced and strong enough to kill RBs without tank. First this looks horrible, but after some time players can learn how to kill RBs when RB could attack anybody in the attacking group.

I can confirm that this setting is really not retail-like. By checking through the code somewhat it seems to affect all raids or am I wrong? according to retail players this only effects some raids ( no info on what raids yet, could be that it only does not affect instanced raids, not sure yet) 2nd part is that the chaos time happens once / raid for 30-40 sec below 30% of hp. The current one it happens all the time if I have understood it correctly?
During this chaos time there is no way for tanks to get back aggro =)

Yes, tested on three ~45 lvl RB's with minions.
After first change from RB, the tank could never again regain aggro on it, no matter how many aggression he delivered on it. The minions however kept the aggro on him during the whole time (never care to kill off the minions, just let them hit on tank).
So, after the RB lost aggro on the tank, all he was good for was to keep the minions on him, and whatever little damage his +4 SLS did!
I really don't mind the RB's going after the nukers every minute or whatever timing is set, but the tank really should be able to regain aggro, or he's completely useless.

Is this issue being looked at?
I raised the time to 60 seconds, but still it's a mess doing RBs now, and the tank is useless, just keeps running after the RB attempting to get aggro back, looking silly!
You can't mean this is retail-like? What are they using the tank on retail for?

i think it is more silly that a tank just aggro RB and the DD just kill the RB. where is the logic behind that? where is some strategy?

Huh? It's very logical if you ask me. What's the logic of having an aggression-skill that does absolutely no good?
I can buy that RB's should be more clever and smarter, but the aggression-skill should still be usable.
The whole system is based upon different levels of hate. Nukers creates a certain amount of hate, so does healers, but they do not have a specialized hate-skill which logically should beat whatever amount of hate the nukers or healers produces, if applied correctly and at proper times.
Maybe the hate from the nukers/healers should build up more quickly, and maybe the aggression-skill should have a higher fail-rate, but having the RB just ignoring the tank is not very logical.
And attacking at random, where is the logic in that?
If I were a smart RB, I would go for the one I hated most, or why not the one I think has the least defence, so I could kill it quickly and have one less attacker pounding on me, or maybe even concentrate on the healers first. But I wouldn't go randomly, and especially not when I have this tank pouring hate all over me all the time - him I would like to kill more than anything!
Again, I really don't mind the RB loosing aggro on the tank from time to time, but the tank should be able to get back the attention of the RB within a reasonable time.

Can someone explain why after the first RaidChaosTime is over, the tank is ignored by the raidboss?
Is it because he has too little time to get aggro back, before the RB reconsiders again?
