In changeset: http://l2jserver.com/trac/changeset/3546 Gameguard has been disabled by default.

Is it secure to disabled it?

What is exactly the use of GameGuard?
People can use bots and can use packets snifers... so what is the porpuse of the GameGuard?

On retail players without gameguard is not kicked. And "bot protection" is extremely poor.

yes but the question has his merits: as things are now, continuing to enable gameguard checks in l2j has some value or its just a waste of time?
I have quite a few of Windows 7 users that cant log in even using latest versions of original gameguard.des, that's just really annoying.
If I disable gameguard checks in my server options, the chances of being hacked/botted etc raise significantly or not?

no difference with and without GG, the new bots can bypass GG protection without problems.

Maybe windows 7 will be the death of that sh** that is GameGuard... I must say that I feel uncomfortable to know that some code has ring 0 priviledges and can give it to some code downloaded from internet !!!

if you disable GG your players will be happier xD

I think it was designed to stop sniffers/bots from working, but any decent sniffer/bot bypasses GG, so it's useless, and will only bring you headaches  .

edit: also + for linux users
