Revision Protocol

A fair few of us noobs of L2j have experienced this problem "
Protocol Revion <whatever> is invalid. Minimum is <whatever> and maximum is <some o' rather> "
But the numbers to fill thoes "<>" are far different from other peoples, mine goes like this "
protocol Revision:12 is invalid. Maximum is 83 and Minimum is 83" and in one of the help pages of the wiki it suggested that i simply update my Lineage with the updater... but when i try to do THAT lineage gives me a big nice "
CONNECTION TO SERVER TERMINATED" about 1/2 way through the updating process. and this is the only lineage that I have and CAN get with my net speed and download limit in place.
I have
Lineage Gracia Part II (apologise that the best version info i can gather)
If anyone knows any other way to fix the "protocol Revion:12" so it's "protocol Revision:83" like my servers asks, that'd be more than just a great help!

The connection terminated error is from the NCZ0ft server. You got diconnected. Sometimes you can't connect at all for hours.
You will just have to wait until the update works.

client protocol revision 83 is gracia final. so if server says it needs this client's revision, than you must have a gracia final client.
client protocol revision 12 was gracia part 2, so you have an old client and trying to connect to a newer server.
(first number is your client version, the min and max is what server allows to connect)

If to download with SVN that in a config stood by default 83-83, me did not start up on a server from Gracia Final client, I have put 18-999 and now starts up.
Write what protocol correct for Gracia Final client ?

Excellent stuff! But i have another question that always seems to unanswered in these forums, how do you connect a gracia final game? it doesn't seem to even care a little bit about what .hosts is doing or says, and doesn't have a l2.exe so I've then got no choice to boot from the updater

it was answered, try to search for l2.bin . there was some batch file for starting the game. or there were some other hints. just search

was l2.bin, I can boot the game from there now.... it's just that, I still can't get Final to look for my server, it doesn't care for the IP hosts has... it does it own thing.
Is there a way still, to manipulate L2Final to connect my MY IP and not its own?

it works with the hosts file. check if your hosts file is properly edit and saved.

I see... but changing that still isn't doing squat to my L2 Final game, it still goes ahead and connects to the NCserver completely ignoring whatever put in hosts.

You are using PTS or Live Client?
It definetly works with Live Client. PTS Client has hardcoded IP in l2.ini

Ok!
My gracia Final is screwed up hard, and wont connect to a server, we know that now, right? janiii and benurb helped me work that out then.
however, my server is still after a lineage II with protocol revision 83 -83, and all i can give it is 12.
can someone then please tell me waht server sand Database i need to get so its' after protocol revision 12? plz?
