Connecting to high five server server

Post by aerolite »

I have the server up. But i`m just confused do we really need to edit the hosts.file to connect to our servers? because when I download installer from other lineage private server they didn't edit my hosts.file and still i'm able to connect their servers.

I need explanation how they do it.

Thank you!

Oh thanks.. anwyays, I have download a Lineage II High Five Installer, but unfortunately, it doesn't let me patch it keep saying the connection to the update server has been terminated, and when I open the game directly it says the gamguard file is daamged. please reinstall gamguard error code 610

Is this because I download incorrent High five server installer? please help because based on l2j wiki http://trac.l2jserver.com/wiki/Client the client download doesn't seemed to work.

you should not use the updater for two reasons;
1) it won't work because NCZ0ft moved l2 updater to NCZ0ft updater and disabled the old one (since GoD)
2) if you use the updater, it will update your client to latest GoD, which l2j does not support.
If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.
Otherwise you will never learn anything if all you do is copy-paste!

Ohh so do I have to use the official client then? without patching?

when I install it, the offical client itself is not working, gameguard crash, even though my anti virus is off..

Search for "nprotect.lineage2.com"; you must put it in your hosts file along with "l2authd.lineage2.com".
However, the IP is changing, so I don't know which is the latest. Maybe you can find it out by pinging the host.

I have done it and I get the same error. What are you using for your own? client and listed in hosts.file?

I've tried

l2authd.lineage2.com nprotect.lineage2.com and vice versa
206.127.148.69 nprotect.lineage2.com

both doesn't work.

you need both in your hosts file at the same time.

I just finish my download patch from other private server... and the patch only includes changes in "system" folder. and I used their L2.exe client, how come they didn't eve have to edit the hosts file? if its a modified client can you please give me the link on how to do it?

thanks~

It's not allowed to be discussed in this forum.
Anyway, I've never had that gameguard error with a clean client connecting to l2j server via the hosts file.

You should NEVER download patches from private servers for your own, you can't know what they've changed/added/removed besides what they write (if they write anything at all), and you can't know if it will work for you. Not to mention you'd have to edit their patch anyway because of the hard-coded server IP/hostname.
