You can only add/remove cells to/from an MultiLayer block (red ones).
So in case there is only an complex (green ones) or simple (blue ones) block, you have to convert it an to multi layer block. You will find the buttons for this in the navigation on the right.

If you have some cells selected you can add a new level of cells or remove the selected ones etc.
Just use those 2 buttons called "Add Layer(s)" and "Remove Layer(s)".

The menu will look like this.

PS: If someone would make an nice tutorial for the editor i would link them on the google code site and ofc honor him with credits on the site.

Hi guys.

It`s been a long time since the last update...
I currently got some free time and want to spend it on the editor.
The plan is to add an connection to the l2j gameserver and be able to edit the geo while it`s running.
For example:
You connect to the gameserver which gives you a list of the currently loaded geo files.
You select one and it`s beeing send to the editor.
The gameserver sends the location of all players in the region all xyz ticks.
In case you change some parts of the geo you can easly syncronize it with the gameserver, where it is updated directly, so you can directly test the changes in game.

Any suggestions or ideas?

Greetings

Aloha,

It's a nice feature, I think you could remove or rework the old geoedotios from luno (I think).

Also it'd be nice to do it for latest sources, beta branch :p

Well, the geodata is kept in memory server-side, so there should be no problem. Just gotta make a geoeditor -> server packet that can send bulk updates at once (the way I see it is this: you edit some geodata, click "sync with GS", geoeditor sends a packet with changed nodes (in the currently open map of course, not all at once), server replaces existing data with the newly sent (and optionally updates the geodata file on HDD aswell) and vuala - that's it).
The GS could reply with an OK or ERROR message of some sorts.
I don't think there's much else to it other than this.

AFAIK the thing that L2J code currently contains is syncing character position with the geoeditor. It certainly could use an update but it's not related to this directly.
If you have problems, FIRST TRY SOLVING THEM YOURSELF, and if you get errors, TRY TO ANALYZE THEM, and ONLY if you can't help it, THEN ask here.

Well yeah it`s not that hard ;)
Except for the thingy that the current l2j geo works on one big stream.
I would refractor the geo and give it the following possiblities:
1. Stream from MappedFile for whole region (like now)
2. Stream from an Byte Array (faster that MappedFile, because there will be no more native calls to the MappedFile)
3. Stream from Byte Arrays splitted by blocks for better modification with the editor.
4. Add a new GeoBlock type which appends an index for the cells on MultiLayer blocks (Faster because we don`t have to iterate over the each cell with all it`s heights to get to the correct cell, additional)
5. Add the possiblitys to load L2Off geo. (additional)
6. Add an objective geo instead of an stream (cost much more ram, faster, additional)

I believe the 5th would win you a whole lot of internets from l2off devs :)
Obviously if the current way of managing geodata in-memory isn't suitable for the task at hand then it is #1 priority to make it manageable.
But I don't know almost anything about l2j's geoengine so I am in no position to discuss that.

Got this new UI.
The server link button opens a dialog to connect to the server.
The server go button uploads the geo.

Hope ya like it :D

I plan on making it this way:
You connect to the server an get the list of geo files you would like to edit.
You can select one. Then you get a promt asking you if you want to get it from the server or load your own for that region. If you got an disconnect a promt apears asking you where to save the geo file (in case it was modified).
On this way you can load the saved geo while reconnecting :)

Looks cool. But the "Server Go" button arrow should probably point upwards, since it's an upload action (and the title/description of the button could be "Upload to server"; also, don't forget to open the server link settings if the link is not established yet). Then there could be a button "Download from server" - just in case you denied the initial request and changed your mind. It should probably save the opened file before downloading from server so as to not lose the changes (and the download goes into a temp/renamed file or directory).
And I do believe the `Add Server Link` button should open a tab in Settings, not an entirely separate window (if it's already like that - nvm).
If you got a disconnect a prompt apears asking you where to save the geo file
It should save the file on your HDD in any case, especially if it was downloaded from the server.
On this way you can load the saved geo while reconnecting :)
Just save a DIFF file between initial and last modified and use that accordingly (i.e. if you've been disconnected from the server and modified the file in the mean time, then reconnected, offer to upload the diff).

BTW, do you have a function "go to coordinates" somewhere there? I don't see it in the GUI...
