~L2j Presents~
Advanced Users - An Approach to Developers
[/color]

As some of you may have already noticed at the bottom of the board there is a new usergroup created recently:
  • Image
Who will be on this new team?
...at the very beginning a few of you who are reading this.

This is a new approach of L2j to the Community to get users involved into the active development, users who cant code fixes/patches or new features to L2j can still help a lot, we need people with strong willpower and participation to help us to make more stuff.

What objectives did we want to achieve by creating this group?
  • In the first place, we wanted to form a group of trustable users; a group closer to developing activity and, specially, to developers, either providing support, retail info, test reports, bug information, feedback, etc.
  • Secondly, we wanted to somehow award those users who offer altruist support to either the team or the community users with a new position within the community and some new privileges.
  • Create a bond between users and developers as community representatives.
Hence, within this scenario of Mutual Cooperation, how am I expected to you collaborate?

There are many little trivial work that we would like to share with you:
  • Providing Quality Support to other Community Members through forums.
  • Testing 0-day patches
  • Testing New Features before being commited to the SVN
  • Testing New Releases during Closed Development
  • Providing Retail Gameplay Information
  • Providing feedback about our work and the Community.
  • Idleing on IRC with us
  • Becoming Wiki Editors
  • Getting involved in team decissions.
Basically we want to create a group of L2j Gurus, experienced people that know what L2j is and how to tame it, even if they cant code a shit, they can still provide valuable information and feedback to us and the whole community, we want to you share your knowledge, there are many options and things to do here in the L2j Community and we need help with that.

A new Ninja Hidden forum has been set up for the sake of our communitcations where all the magic will start and a new shiny badge awaits for you.

Oh... wait... what?? umm... forgot the most important thing??

How do you become an Advanced User?

Prove to us that you deserve it then we will contact you.
How to prove it to us? be creative... but dont think too hard.

~Small FRAQK~
Summarizing almost all the questions:
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group by donating money.
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group by paying for it.
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group by pming all the L2j Team. <bad idea>
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group by spamming ThePhoenixBird pmbox. <VERY bad idea>
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group by begging for it on forums.
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group by saying that you deserve it.
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group even if you run the largest L2j Server on the Universe.
  • NO, you CAN'T get into the Advanced User group even if you are a nigerian prince in need of assistance.
As said before, we will invite you... already a bunch of invites has been sent... run! check your pm inbox!!!

xChat is free for Unix systems http://www.xchat.org (official windows version is not free)
Or xChat Free Windows version http://www.silverex.org/download/

Try Chatzilla if you are a Firefox user https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/16

I used Pidgin as my IRC client for a while, it's available both for Linux and Windows.

Just my 2 cents but wouldnt it be better to start actually looking through the contributions and either implementing or telling the contributors what's wrong and what to fix(and coaching them so their learning curve gets steaper) instead of creating yet another "dummy" group to make some people feel more important and others feel just as useless and disregarded as before?
IMHO it's not the [meaningless] title/rank that's important, it's the attention and the coaching that they get from the people who are in charge that make contributors stay around, better themselves and contribute even more(and better code) to a project.
But well... it's just my two cents as I said... what do I know about how to lead a project, make it advance faster and a bind a group of individuals together...

Good to see you're still alive "oh mighty L2J leader"... maybe you could come out of hiding more than just once every year or two? It could be interesting even if just to talk to the people contributing on your project... I'm sure that they'd all like to know you a little. (I'm not being sarcastic this time, I'm sure that this would help alot more your project than this new "rank" you guys created, people need to see their leader and feel that he's there for them)
