In most countries you cannot host donations except if you are some specific type of organization ( religious, environmentals, activists bla bla ).

If it cannot be a donation, then it must be registered as a transaction falling withing a certain type of service you are providing. Thus it gets taxed.
Someone who didnt bother reading the svn or ant manual and just waited for you to make him a visual guide for eclipse is not a guy that is willing to learn ... He is the definition of the leecher.

depend of what your understand for the word called "DONATION".

DONATION is not SELL
DONATION != SELL

DONATION == GIVE/GIFT/HELP WITH SOMETHING

DONATION is just give/gift/help with something (could be money, hardware, help with houting, etc) and without receiving/requesting nothing back.

SELL, is to get/buy things with money.

and yes, when you sell services or sell items, you need to pay taxes in your country, but well depend of your country laws ofc.

you have no idea what donation means...even donations are part of income which is strictly under taxing in EU...maybe your country does not care about "gift" but here it is serious issue to avoid taxes...

thats why I say... "depend of your country laws ofc" :P

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donation

for example here in Chile "Donations" have no relation with taxes, but If I start to sell things or services, like team speak channels, items for L2, or related things, I need to pay taxes ofc xD

Like previous said it depends on country, but the concept of a "donation" and "voluntary".
Donation [doh-ney-shuhn] - Noun - an act or instance of presenting something as a gift, grant, or contribution.
Voluntary [vol-uhn-ter-ee] - Adjective - done, made, brought about, undertaken, etc., of one's own accord or by free choice.

So make sure you know what those 2 are and you will come a long way ;).
