L2J is an Open Source, Alternative Lineage 2 Game Server written in pure Java for best compatibility.
L2J gives you the possibility to legally host a game server for this popular Korean MMO created by NCSoft.
Project’s first release we know of were made in June 27, 2004 by L2Chef. Lots of people have passed for the project, much of its code evolved and much more is left to do yet. But the project goals stood consistent during these years.

If you’re a server administrator or GM you may find yourself willing to: contribute code snippets with fixes, enhancements or custom mods, test other people contributions and/or provide feedback about L2J.
Retail game players may contribute valuable information to improve the L2J gaming experience.
L2J players could report ingame caveats, help us testing and determine comparison standpoints for the L2J gaming experience to better match the retail one.
Whichever your relationship with L2J, you’re always encouraged to assist other community members, provided our documentation base is not enough for them to find a solution for their problems or doubts.
